STUDENT CONFIRMATION LETTER

Question 1.        How to apply for a student confirmation letter?

Answer :              Application for student confirmation letter can be done on the iPPS portal.

Question 2.        How long does it takes for the student confirmation letter to be completed?

Answer :              The student’s confirmation letter will be completed within three days from the date of the student’s application.

Question 3.        Why did I still not get my student confirmation letter even though it’s already  been three days?

Answer :              The student’s confirmation letter will only be processed if the student’s status is registered.

Question 4.        Why does the iPPS portal page suddenly turn blank when I click on the submit button?

Answer :              Do try to use Microsoft Edge when using the iPPS portal. If the problem persists, please contact it.pps@usim.edu.my

CONFERENCE CLAIMS

Question 1.        Where can I get the Conference Claims form?

Answer :              The conference claims form is available at CGS website. Click on the student related and choose “Claim for conference/publication/workshop”.

Question 2.        Where can I send the Conference Claims form?

Answer :              The conference claims form can be given over the CGS counter or can email to arinah.arifah@usim.edu.my

Question 3.        Who is qualified to apply for the Conference Claims form?

Answer :              Students that registered before academic session Semester I, 2023/2024 and still an active student in USIM.

Question 4.        What is the maximum amount the student can claim for the conference claims?

Answer :              The maximum amount that can be claimed is RM1000.00.

APPLICATION ADMISSION

Question 1.    How to apply for admission?

Answer:         Application for admission can be made through online application

Question 2.    How long does it take for my application to be processed and how to get results of my application?

Answer:         The application will be take 60 working days, as expected date appear after
submit the application.

Question 3.    Is it necessary to have English and Arabic Language requirements for admission?

Answer:          English Language is the requirements for admission. You are required to show evidence of English Certificates  (MUET Band 3 and above, IELTS Band 5.0 and above, TOEFL CBT at least 180 and IBT at least 64).Arabic Language is the requirements for a part of graduation. If you do not have background in the Arabic Language, you can sit for BUA 6012 courses (Arabic Language Foundation)

REGISTRATION

Question 1.    What is the procedure to register?

Answer:          After offer letter issued, please read carefully and bring all documents

required in the list.

Question 2.    Can I register online?

Answer:          No, there are no online registration after endemic of COVID-19. You are compulsary to come register physically at our counter Division Graduate Management, Centre For Academic Management

REGULATION

Question 1.    Where should we refer USIM regulation to study?

Answer:          Please refer here – REGULATION 2021

Question 1.     I’m ready with my thesis. What should I do for viva voce?

Answer:            Firstly, you need to apply for “Nomination and Intention To Submit” through to iPPS portal and get the approval of the supervisor and faculty before obtaining the DGM approval. After approval, students will receive an email for the submission of the thesis (softbound submission). Students are not allowed to submit their softbound thesis as long as the application for Nomination and Intention To Submit” is still pending.

Question 2.     Who needs to fill in the Online Progress Report (OPR)? When is the OPR filling period occurs and how should I complete it?

Answer:           All REGISTERED research students (Masters and PhD) are obligated to complete the Online Progress Report (OPR) at the end of every semester. It can be done via the IPPS portal, during the final examination weeks (for 3 weeks). Students who have completed their softbound submission/viva-voce/graduated are exempted from completing the OPR.

Question 3.     If I don’t fill in the OPR, will it impact my study status?

Answer:              Yes.
First time with no OPR = You will get LBS (Conditional Pass) status.
Second time with no OPR in a row = You will get GDB (Failed and Dismissed) status.

Question 4.     When is the Universiti English Proficiency Test (UEPT) result would be released? Can I get a refund for the UEPT registration fee?

Answer:            Within two (2) months after the date of the test. No refund for all students.

Question 5.     When can I get my Letter of Award of Degree/ Senate Completion Letter?
Answer:           Within 7 working days after the Senate Meeting.

Question 6.     How is the viva voce conducted? When can I get my official Viva Voce result?

Answer:           It is conducted physically in the USIM campus (Face-to-face). Within 7 working days from the viva voce session.

Q1.What are the conditions to apply for the exemption of Research Methodology and Data Analysis courses?

Answer:

  1. The course are similar and equivalent to the corresponding cources in the current programme of study offered at the Faculty.
  2. The subject shall obtain a minimum grade of B.
  • The course were taken not more than five (5) years from the date of registration to the University.
  1. The maximum number of credits allowed does not exceed 30% of the total credits in the current programme.
  2. Courses at the undergraduate level are not eligible for credit transfer or exemption at the graduate levels.

Q2.Am I allowed to change the thesis language?

Answer:

Yes, student who has reasonable justification (s) may apply to change his/her thesis language to the Dean of the respective Faculty for approval.

However, change of thesis language is allowed only once during the candidature.

Q3.Is there any specific time to apply for withdrawal of study?

Answer:

Application to withdraw is open throughout the semester.

Q4.Who can be appoint as Supervisor or Co-Supervisor or Chairman of the Supervisory Committee?

Answer:

The Supervisor, Main Supervisor and Chairman of the Supervisory Committee shall be among the serving academic members of the University.

The Co-Supervisor and members of the Supervisory Committee may be appointed either from amongst the serving academic members of the university, or any qualified individual from other institutions or industry or those who are being seconded to other institutions or industry or have retired or resigned from the University or other institutions or industry.

Q5.Is it allowed to apply for the change of supervisor?

Answer:

Application for change of Supervisor(s) must be made within the first four (4) weeks of the current semester. Upon approval, the change will be effective in the same semester.
